Always use floor protectors, such as felt glides.
Urethane treated floors should never be waxed.
Floor life will be lengthened by using floor mats or rugs at entry ways, bathroom exits or other high-traffic areas to protect the finish from excessive dirt or moisture.
Area rugs should not be used for 2-3 weeks after a floor has been installed or refinished. Extra caution should also be taken as floor continues to cure during this time.
Normal cleaning requires only dry or dust mopping. It is more important to remove any sand or grit before it has a chance to be ground into the floor finish.
Spills or liquids should be wiped up immediately.
Never use cleaners containing solvents, as they may damage the floors. Only cleaners specifically made for urethane-treated floors, like Clean and shine by Rx for wood or other cleaners we've tested should be used.
Ideal humidity level is approximately 40%. If low humidity levels occur during the winter months, the use of an air humidifier is recommended to reduce shrinkage that may occur as the floor material loses moisture.
If high humidity persists during summer months, a dehumidifier may be necessary. Wider boards will be more sensitive to high or low humidity levels.
A hardwood floor should be re-coated when the original finish is showing signs of wear, but before it has worn down to the bare wood. The floor will stain easily and may require sanding.
Please contact us when the floor shows signs of wear or for any of your hardwood floor needs.

Dustless Recoating should be done every two to three years, depending on the wear of your floors ororiginal finish begins to show signs of wear, you should call before it has worn down to the bare wood or you will have to have it sanded.
Long term maintenance
Caring for your floors later:
According to Oak Flooring Institute, "a good rule of thumb is to vacuum or dust weekly." After vacuuming or dusting, use recommended flooring cleaner for spills and general cleanup on floors which have non-waxed polyurethane finish.
Additionally:
- Place mats and throw rugs at doorways, exteriors and interiors to help prevent the tracking of grit, dirt and sand.
- Never wet-mop a wood floor. Water and wood do not mix well together. Use recommended flooring cleaner.
- Wipe up food and other spills immediately with a dry or slightly dampened towel (wipe dry).
- Keep high heels in good repairs. An unprotected tip will dent any hardwood floor.
- Using a humidifier or dehumidifier in conjunction with a furnace or air conditioning system to maintain relative humidity in the home at 30-50% will maintain the moisture in the wood and minimize cracks between the boards
- Put plastic or fabric-faced glides under the legs of furniture to prevent scuffing and scratching.
- Kitchen floors experience the most traffic in a home. Place an area rug in front of the kitchen sink and stove. Shake out or vacuum the rugs frequently.
- When moving heavy furniture, protect wood flooring by teflon slider under the legs they are also available through our office.
- Do not use wax, oil soap, or other household cleaners.
- Finally, when your urethane finish start showing wear patterns from surface scratching you should call. When high traffic area begin to look dull it is time to recoat or restore the finish.
